Tumblr’s new automated phone menu sucks.
My handy steps for shooting and uploading video to tumblr straight from an iPhone
If you have a jail broken iPhone, you can shoot video and upload it directly to your tumblrblog with these applications:
Pixelpipe from the App Store
Cycorder from Cydia
PPVideoEnabler from Cydia (this allows your videos to be seen by Pixelpipe).
SETTING UP PIXELPIPE
1. Sign up for an account at pixelpipe.com
2. Once you have your account set up, click on the “add pipes” tab on the left.
3. Select tumblr
4. Enter your e-mail and password for tumblr and press “add service”
5. It will congratulate you and give you a few options. The most important is the routing tag. For now, leave it as “tumblr”
SETTING UP PIXELPIPE ON THE IPHONE
1. Download Pixelpipe from the Apple App Store
2. Launch the application and enter your Pixelpipe account information on your first launch or in the settings panel. You’ll see that you’re able to add and edit pipes from the iPhone itself.
SETTING UP TUMBLR & VIMEO
1. Go to the tumblr dashboard
2. Click on the video button and then click on the “upload a video” tab.
3. There is a link to log on or sign up for Vimeo. Click on it.
4. Login or sign-up for a basic account.
5. It should take you to a page asking you to link your account to tumblr. Click the “Yeah, let’s do it” button.
MAKING IT WORK
1. Open Cycorder of your jail broken iPhone and record some video.
2. Open pixelpipe on your phone and, with PPVideoEnabler installed, you should see the video you just shot at the top of the list.
3. Click the blue arrow to the right on the video clip.
4. In any of the fields, and to the routing tag “@tumblr” and save your changes
5. Click on the clip and it will be queued for upload
6. Click the upload button and it will be uploaded to Vimeo automatically and will appear on your tumblr page after it’s processed (anywhere from 20 minutes to a year later).
My Afternoon
The third of my “Phone Call Trilogy”
Two people and 140 characters - nanofiction
We’d chat on the Internet 140 characters at a time.
We talked daily, coming to know each other deeply.
We learned each other’s deepest secrets.
We were in love, before even touching.
We learned of the other’s body.
We shared our first dinner.
We exchanged phone numbers.
“Nice meeting you!”
We joked.
Handshake.
(This was written to be a relationship started on the Internet if you read it from the top down. If you read it from the bottom up, it is a more traditional relationship.)
Nano-fiction is starting with 10 words and subtracting one word each line.

Top 5 tweets that should have clued you all in to the fact that I’m in a wheelchair

Gone AWOL. Getting fresh air for my bloodclot. Being confined to a wheelchair sucks. Eye-opening experience. http://twitpic.com/2tuka 4:06 PM Apr 4th
Been pushing around in a wheelchair all day. My arms are exhausted. I’m a quadriplegic now. 8:47 PM Apr 4th
My dog would be an ideal service dog, if not for the jumping up on kids, barking at people afraid of dogs, and chewing on possessions. 3:50 PM May 8th
My Evening
Mom’s Mother’s Day card from my dog (as usually).
Hanging out with some newly-injured. I call and roll a strike on the duckpin lanes. Badass.

Confessions of a nonlinear quadriplegic
Oh, did I forget to mention I’m in a wheelchair?
It’s been a long time coming and I’ve been very hesitant to come out of the closet, as it were, regarding this. But I’ve come to know you all seemingly so well over the past eight months or so, but I feel like I can reveal this part of myself - something only four or five of you know until now.
I was paralyzed in a bicycle accident nearly 5 years ago when I was 29. I damaged C5 and C6 of my cervical vertebrae, which impairs the use of my fingers and everything from the chest down. Even though I’m not crippled like Christopher Reeve was, I’m technically a quadriplegic as all four of my limbs are impaired. I’m still able to use my arms and hands, I’m able to drive a van, raise a black lab puppy (@nonlineardog), play wheelchair rugby, and work.
Before I was injured I owned my own business and worked as a filmmaker and video editor. As most of you know I currently work as a web designer, a career on looking to get out of. I think I want to go into teaching - something more emotionally rewarding and fulfilling.
I don’t want this to change anything. I don’t want sympathy or pity. I don’t want admiration. I just want you all to know something that is a significant part of my life. I’m keeping this brief, but I want you all to know that
nothing is off limits when you talk to me. I can comfortably talk about my injury and my life before the accident all day long.
You all are a great crowd and I’ve enjoyed getting to know you all immensely, 140 characters at a time.
Jon
PS - You all better star the shit out of this.
